Theatre, Directing, Dramaturgy, and Dramatic Writing Concentration, B.A.

Program Overview

The Department of Theatre inspires students to expand their vision of the world and themselves, preparing them for leadership as practitioners, educators, and artists. The Department of Theatre offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, with concentrations in one of the following areas: Performance; Design/Tech; Directing, Dramaturgy and Dramatic Writing; Applied Theatre; and Theatre Education. The B.A. degree allows the flexibility to pursue a double major. A Minor in Theatre and a Certificate in Musical Theatre are also offered.

This concentration is designed for students who wish to pursue directing, writing for the state and/or screen, dramaturgy as well as more academic learning fields of theatre history/criticism/theory.

Directing, Dramaturgy, and Dramatic Writing at a Glance

The UNC Charlotte Department of Theatre does not require an audition for acceptance. Coursework in the Department of Theatre is available to all students enrolled at the University, as are the auditions for our productions. UNC Charlotte is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
