Program Overview
The Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte offers a dual degree program where students can earn both an M.S. in Financial Engineering and Fintech (formerly the M.S. in Mathematical Finance) and an M.S. in Economics. This program equips students with advanced skills in quantitative finance, risk management, econometrics and economic modeling.
Graduates are prepared for successful careers in finance, public policy and beyond, leveraging sophisticated mathematical models and economic analysis. With a rich history and national recognition, this dual degree provides a comprehensive education for navigating today’s financial and economic landscapes.
PLEASE NOTE: UNC Charlotte’s M.S. in Mathematical Finance (MAFI) program has evolved into the M.S. in Financial Engineering and Fintech (effective summer 2026) to better reflect the program’s curriculum, industry alignment and career pathways.
