Systems Engineering, B.S.S.E.

Program Overview

Systems engineers are essential in a variety of industries because these professionals are concerned with the “big picture” of a project, in addition to engineering aspects. From hospital renovations and mobile phone development to automotive production lines and airport operations, systems engineers utilize principles of both engineering and business to analyze processes and organizations for efficiency, consistency, value and quality.

UNC Charlotte’s B.S. in Systems Engineering provides you with skills in evaluating interdisciplinary needs, coordinating operations, managing technical functions, improving supply chains and developing production strategies. You also have the opportunity for experience with rapid prototyping, virtual reality and unmanned aerial systems.

In the capstone senior design project, you’ll apply theory to practicum in actual engineering challenges. For example, past projects include the design and optimization of an agile supply chain system using robotic automation, wind turbine design, and the development of software tools supporting the analysis and comprehension of operational experience data.

Charlotte’s systems engineering graduates are equipped to pursue careers in energy, finance, healthcare, transportation and more with industry leaders such as Amazon, Boeing, Duke Energy and Lockheed Martin.

As an ABET accredited program, this course of study provides students assurance that it meets the quality standards of the profession.
