Sustainability, Minor

Program Overview

The Sustainability Minor is designed to expose students to perspectives, approaches and the varying facets of sustainability. Drawing from the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, and the Global Council for Science and the Environment, students can explore the social and environmental relationships of a single issue (e.g., food access and distribution), or multiple issues at the heart of sustainable practices. The Minor in Sustainability is available to all students across the University.

Sustainability, Minor at a Glance

Students obtaining a minor in Sustainability must complete 18 credit hours. All students are required to take ESCI 1501 and GEOG 3170, and at least 3 credit hours from Strategic Thinking & Systems Thinking and Value Thinking & Futures Thinking. The additional 6 credit hours may come from either the Strategic Thinking & Systems Thinking or Values Thinking and Futures Thinking subgroups. Additional courses can be counted at the discretion of the Sustainability program director. Students may only double count 6 credits in the minor with 6 credits in their major.
