Program Overview


UNC Charlotte’s Mechanical Engineering Technology degree with a concentration in applied energy focuses on energy systems and applications. You’ll learn computer aided design, mechanisms, manufacturing processes and engineering materials, and focus your electives on power systems and machines, energy management, energy markets and more. The applied energy concentration develops highly sought-after energy professionals who are more marketable and adaptable to the changing marketplace for engineers. With the added emphasis on energy efficiency within mechanical systems like power plants and industrial machinery, you’ll have the skills for professional roles such as renewable energy systems, advanced manufacturing, and transmission systems. This concentration prepares you for the real-world mechanical implementation of energy concepts.
