Program Overview

With over 22% of NASCAR Cup Series race engineers being alumni of the William States Lee College of Engineering, the industry-leading academic program is clear: UNC Charlotte’s motorsports engineering concentration, offered together with the B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. This program guides you through mechanical engineering courses, then adds a layer of hands-on electives and immersive experiential learning options in advanced automotive power plants, applied vehicle aerodynamics and motorsports instrumentation. By completing the requirements described in this program, you’ll receive a special designation on your transcript showing successful completion of the concentration.

With the Alan D. Kulwicki Motorsports Lab located within 50 miles of most NASCAR Cup teams, it’s no wonder this program is the first stop for employers hiring interns and entry-level engineers.
