Program Overview

The B.A. degree in Mathematics with Teacher Licensure is a focused major in Mathematics aimed at preparing students for teaching mathematics in secondary grades. Students seeking a mathematics teacher licensure must complete a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, which includes some upper-level courses in Mathematics Education, and a minor in Secondary Education from the Department of Middle, Secondary, and K-12 Education. There are scholarships for math and science teachers

Math with Teacher Licensure, B.A. at a Glance

Students preparing for licensure to teach mathematics in secondary school (grades 9-12) must Major in Mathematics. Interested students enroll first in the B.A. (or B.S.) in Mathematics and should declare the minor in Secondary Education by the end of their sophomore year, after completing the course “Foundations of Education in Secondary Schools.”
