The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is one of the most widely recognized process improvement and project management certifications in the world. By earning your Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification online through the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, you will be prepared to be a team member on Black Belt projects or lead smaller projects.
Our Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification program includes approximately 35 hours of online recordings and coursework on process improvement and project management. You must pass an exam at the conclusion of the course.

Following five to eight weeks of online instruction, you will complete a project on your own time. You can design a project that would assist in improving an existing process in your workplace or develop a new process for your organization.
You will be given a PowerPoint file with all the templates you’ll need for the project. You can also schedule approximately 30 minutes per week (for up to 13 weeks) to touch base with our instructor for coaching. Once you successfully complete the project and coaching portion of the course, you will earn your certification.
UNC Charlotte’s Green Belt Six Sigma certification course was designed by Dr. Jonathan Mayhorn. Dr. Mayhorn teaches all of our Lean Six Sigma belt courses, as well as some of our Project Management Professional certification prep courses. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Project Management Professional and Scrum Master.

You can register for the course at any time and learn at your own pace. There are no prerequisites for our Green Belt certification course.
Through our Green Belt certification program, you will develop the skills and knowledge needed to identify, analyze and improve business processes. You will learn to:
This course covers the Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools used to improve existing processes or design new processes. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to lead Lean Six Sigma projects to improve processes within their workplace.
Once your Lean Six Sigma Green Belt coursework is complete, the final step to certification is coaching. During this final portion, you will enter into a one-on-one virtual project coaching environment with your instructor.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Registration Fee: $1,400
Included in the cost of this course is 30 minutes of project coaching each week for up to 13 weeks by a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Upon completion of a DMAIC, DMADV, or Lean project storyboard the student will be certified as a Green Belt.
