Languages, Cultures and Translation: Translating German-English, Undergraduate Certificate

Program Overview

A Certificate in Translating represents a theory-based skill developed at the bachelor’s degree level. It is, however, not the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree. The Certificate may complement a major in any field, and is especially recommended for Majors and Minors in French, German, Japanese, Spanish, International Studies, or International Business. To earn the Certificate in Translating German-English, students must complete a sequence of four translation courses or 12 credit hours. They take one course (3 credit hours) in the Theory and History of Translation, which is taught in English. In addition, they take three Practicum in Translation courses (9 credit hours) from German into English. All courses must be completed with a Grade of B or better.
