Program Overview

UNC Charlotte History is a place where scholars thrive, where you follow your passion and prepare for your career, where you can make lasting connections, and where you can make a difference. The Department of History, in collaboration with the College of Education, offers the premier track to a North Carolina Professional Licensure III status in History and Social Studies.

Students seeking teacher licensure in Comprehensive Social Studies must complete the requirements for the B.A. in History and must have a Minor in Secondary Education to obtain teaching licensure. Licensure applications are the responsibility of the student and the Office of Teacher Education Advising and Licensure (TEAL) in the Cato College of Education.
