Geology, Minor

Program Overview

Are you interested in how the Earth works? Have you always been fascinated by volcanoes, earthquakes, rock formation, and how they shape the Earth? The minor in Geology teaches several areas of specialization, including: petrology, structural geology, sedimentary geology, hydrogeology, soil science, surface processes, climate change, and paleontology. Students in the minor have the flexibility to choose elective courses that reflect their specific area of interest, allowing the geology minor to be tailored to support a number of majors, such as: engineering, biology, chemistry, or physics.

To obtain a Minor in Geology, students must complete 20 credit hours of Geology courses offered from the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Geographical Sciences.
