Program Overview

The M.S. in Financial Engineering and Fintech (formerly the M.S. in Mathematical Finance) and Master’s in Finance Dual Degree program, offered by UNC Charlotte and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), equips students with advanced financial skills and global expertise. SUFE students spend the first year in Shanghai, the second year at UNC Charlotte and the third year back at SUFE. The curriculum includes courses like Financial Econometrics and Stochastic Calculus for Finance, preparing graduates for careers in quantitative finance.

PLEASE NOTE: UNC Charlotte’s M.S. in Mathematical Finance (MAFI) program has evolved into the M.S. in Financial Engineering and Fintech (effective summer 2026) to better reflect the program’s curriculum, industry alignment and career pathways.
