English, B.A.

Program Overview

The English Department offers degree-concentrations in a variety of specialized areas of study: literature, creative writing, digital technology, and pedagogy. All of these concentrations promote advanced literacy: critical reading and high-quality writing. Students interested in sampling creative writing, linguistics, literature, pedagogy, rhetoric, and technical communication may find the more general English B.A. to be the best fit. The general English B.A. will give you the broadest training in the essential, high-demand skills for careers in fields such as teaching, technical/professional writing, editing, publishing, advertising, public relations, and nonprofits, as well as in business, financial services, and banking. Other graduates have pursued advanced degrees in literature, law, medicine, teaching, and business administration.
