EMS Management Institute, Professional Certificate

Program Overview

Boost Your Management Skills with Your EMS Management Institute Professional Certificate

The original university-sponsored certificate program for EMS administrators and leadership

EMS administrators and others in managerial and supervisory roles must possess the ability to lead their staff in achieving their department or unit goals. In today’s ever-changing work environment — workforce diversity, downsizing, employee retention and technological advances — the demands placed upon those in administrative and management roles are many and increasingly more complex.

Our professional certificate program is a cohort-based professional development program in which participants cultivate essential EMS leadership and management skills. You will gain valuable knowledge, skills and insights that are directly applicable to EMS agencies. By honing your abilities and building a supportive network, you will emerge equipped to excel in the dynamic world of emergency medical services.

There are no prerequisites to enter the program. However, it is expected that participants are current or future leaders within emergency medical services areas.

UNC Charlotte’s EMS Management Institute Professional Certificate program is designed for:

  • “I recommend the EMS Management Institute for everyone in emergency services.

Each topic presented hit home for me and as we descended below the surface of the values, the personality types, many different management styles and techniques, the problem solving, etc., it gave me a good understanding of who I am as a supervisor and why I am who I am! By understanding this more, I will be able to meet the needs of my shift more fluently. It’s already helped a lot just by understanding the DISC concept.”
