Program Overview

Are you ready to become a leader in the ever-changing landscape of higher education? The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program prepares you for mid- to senior-level leadership positions in universities, community colleges and public or non-public schools.

Today, colleges and universities need people who are prepared to lead in an environment that emphasizes student success, accountability, and collaboration between faculty and staff. They need people who can build bridges with other institutions and sectors and among the many interests in the states and communities they serve.

Doctoral-level preparation in higher education can position you for a greater impact on campus life, student outcomes, and the advancement of scholarship. The intentional sequencing of coursework, qualifying examinations, and advising are designed to culminate in an applied dissertation that addresses a specific professional problem of practice through research.

Educational Leadership: Higher Education Concentration, Ed.D. at a Glance

Successful applicants meet and often exceed our admission requirements, but most importantly demonstrate clear alignment between academic and career interests with those of the selected program. We encourage students to apply by the priority deadline for best consideration, as applications submitted by the secondary deadline are only considered as capacity allows. Capacity varies annually directly related to number of faculty available for doctoral advising, but is typically 5-7 students.
