Essentials Courses (3 courses | 9 weeks)
Step confidently into the world of cybersecurity by mastering the basics: computer networking, Python scripting, and operating systems. These courses equip you with the skills to safeguard digital systems from the ground up.
Introduction to Cybersecurity (3 weeks)
Begin your journey by learning how computers and networks function. You’ll explore key hardware components, basic networking concepts, virtualization, and practice using the Linux command line.
Introduction to Python (3 weeks)
Develop the scripting and programming fundamentals needed for automation and data analysis in cybersecurity. This module introduces Python concepts including variables, data structures, and algorithms.
OS & Networking (3 weeks)
Dive into network structures and operating systems. Learn how to identify, troubleshoot, and secure networks using both Windows and Linux systems.

System Hardening (3 weeks)

Threat Intelligence (3 weeks)

Security Architecture & Frameworks (3 weeks)

Students who complete an eligible technology certificate and capstone can access career development support through UNC Charlotte’s Career Center. Services include up to three individual career coaching appointments, resume and cover letter feedback, LinkedIn profile review, interview preparation and practice, and access to career development resources and employer engagement opportunities. Graduates can also access Hire-A-Niner, the University’s career management platform and job board, for up to six months after completing their certificate. These services are designed to help participants strengthen their job-search skills and career readiness; employment or job placement is not guaranteed.

Cybersecurity professionals use a variety of tools and techniques to defend against these threats and ensure the safety of sensitive information.
The online cybersecurity program will equip you with industry-driven skills such as packet analysis, risk management, secure network design, bash scripting, and penetration testing. These skills are essential for detecting and mitigating cyber threats, as well as for designing secure systems and networks that can withstand attacks.
