Program Overview

Students in the Data Science concentration will learn how to use and develop processes and tools to extract knowledge or insights from data. Data scientists use their analytical ability to interpret data sources, manage large amounts of data, ensure consistency of datasets, create visualizations to aid understanding, build mathematical models and present and communicate the data insights/findings.

Computer Science, Data Science Concentration, B.S. at a Glance

This concentration is designed to best prepare students to match the diverse requirements of employers. It also prepares students to pursue graduate studies in computing and other related areas. The B.S. in Computer Science program requires a common set of computer science courses, a set of concentration-specific courses, and a group of elective courses in a non-computer science discipline, also satisfied by a second major or a minor.
