Program Overview

UNC Charlotte’s M.S. in Civil Engineering offers specialized graduate studies in five different concentration areas:

  • Environmental and Water Resources Engineering
  • Geo-Environmental Engineering
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Transportation Engineering

At Charlotte, you may choose between the program in civil engineering for those with a background or undergraduate degree in this field, or the program in engineering for those with a background outside civil engineering.  

With our Civil Engineering graduate programs ranked in the top 100 nationally, the degree will prepare you for professional careers, improve your technical competency and initiate a life-long learning experience.

The 30 credit-hour, STEM-designated master’s program is an efficient path to achieving career goals while offering international students the opportunity to apply for an OPT extension, opening doors to global opportunities.

Already a 49er? Early Entry Option Available

Exceptional undergraduate students may apply to the M.S. in Civil Engineering Early Entry program to begin work toward a graduate degree before completion of the bachelor’s degree.
