Program Overview

Aspiring teachers can make a significant impact on a crucial stage in the lives of children and their families when they study for a B.A in Child and Family Development. Students will learn from expert faculty in early childhood development while receiving real-world experience to prepare them for a variety of career options in public and private schools, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and more. UNC Charlotte’s College of Education will prepare you to best optimize early-childhood education, which has substantial positive short- and long-term effects on the children and their families.

Education Honors Program

Are you passionate about education, research, leadership, and serving your community? Are you looking for a meaningful enrichment experience that will prepare you for your future education career and graduate school? Education majors and minors are invited to apply for the Education Honors Program after completing their introductory education coursework. Education Honors students receive individualized support and mentorship to further develop their interest in education and apply their research skills to create and defend a capstone project.

Child and Family Development, B.A. at a Glance

Our degree in Child and Family Development prepares graduates to work in educational and related settings that serve infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners with and without disabilities, and their families. The program qualifies graduates for the Standard Professional 1 (SP1) Professional Educator’s License in birth-kindergarten (B-K) education.
