Program Overview

The Ph.D. in Biology has as its intellectual focus an interdisciplinary synthesis of the biological sciences and related biotechnology. You have opportunities for hands-on experiential training with state-of the art equipment platforms in dedicated research facilities with internationally recognized faculty. The program draws upon faculty strengths in multiple departments and is intended to serve students interested in conducting research in academia, industry, and clinical settings. The main focus of the Ph.D. is the development of an independent research project and publications addressing important biology questions of the day. Graduates of the program will be well-versed in quantitative approaches to biology. The interdisciplinary makeup of the program is designed to produce graduates who will be able to integrate the strengths of more than one discipline in solving biological problems.
