History of Microcredentials @ Charlotte
As a response to the global growth in microcredentials and recognition of the increase in the number of units offering digital badges at UNC Charlotte, the Non-degree Microcredentials Working Group met from August 2024 to February 2025 to bring cohesion to UNC Charlotte microcredentials. The Working Group issued a report in March 2025. Many of the working group members transitioned to the founding Steering Committee in August 2025 to capture the momentum of campus units already exploring microcredential initiatives and increase the quality of current and future microcredentials.
